For many veterans, getting health care through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) still means navigating delays, bureaucracy, and limited options.
The VA MISSION Act was supposed to give veterans more choices in where they receive care. Too often, veterans still face long wait times, complicated referral processes, and uncertainty about whether they can see a local provider instead of traveling long distances to a VA facility.
No veteran, especially one facing cancer, chronic pain, addiction, or mental health challenges, should have to fight bureaucracy to access the care they have earned.
The Veterans’ ACCESS Act (H.R. 740 / S. 275) would strengthen and expand veterans’ ability to receive care in their communities when it best meets their needs.
These reforms would help ensure veterans can receive timely care closer to home from the providers who best meet their needs.
