According to a recent Journal Sentinel investigative report, the veterans home operated in Union Grove “ranked in the top five out of 117 CMS-certified state veterans facilities for having the most violations and fines, the analysis found.”
These ongoing violations and fines are putting elderly veterans who receive care at these skilled nursing facilities at risk. Governor Evers has full oversight and authority over the Department of Veterans Affairs, their leadership, and their programming, which includes operating and maintaining the Union Grove Veterans Homes.
Governor Evers has taken no specific actions since the report detailing these risks and failures at Union Grove to ensure the situation is rectified and care improves at the facility. It is time for Governor Evers to hear from veterans, their families, and their supporters on the importance of improving the quality of care for our elderly veterans.
